Article Submission Policy

At CNY Community News, we value the contribution of our readers and members of the public. We welcome news stories and articles from community members that are accurate, timely, and relevant to our community. However, to maintain the highest standards of journalistic integrity and professionalism, we have established the following Article Submission Policy.

Types of Stories

We accept news stories, opinion pieces, feature stories, and profiles of people or organizations that are of interest to our community. We encourage community members to submit stories that cover a wide range of topics, including but not limited to education, health, business, politics, arts, and culture.

Formatting and Style

All submissions must be in English and written in a clear, concise, and professional style. We prefer stories to be between 500 and 1000 words in length. First time authors should submit all submission in Microsoft Word or Google Docs and submitted via email to the editor at editor@cnycommunity.news Submissions should include a title, a byline, and a brief author bio (50-100 words) at the end of the article. Once our editorial team has reviewed your article and it has been published an account will be established for you to allow for direct submission of future writings directly to the website.

Editing Process

We reserve the right to edit and revise all submitted articles for clarity, conciseness, factualness, accuracy, and tone. We believe that editing and revising articles is necessary to maintain the highest standards of journalistic integrity and professionalism.

Our editors will work with community members to ensure that their articles meet our editorial standards while retaining the author's unique voice and perspective. We may suggest changes to the article's structure, grammar, spelling, and punctuation to ensure that it is easy to read and understand.

Our editors may also fact-check and verify the information presented in the article to ensure that it is accurate and true to the best of our knowledge. If we find any errors or inaccuracies, we will work with the author to correct them or remove them from the article.

We may also adjust the article's tone to ensure that it is appropriate for our audience and adheres to our editorial standards. We will never alter an article's meaning or message without the author's consent.

Before publishing the article, we will send the edited version to the author for approval. The author will have the opportunity to review the edited article and provide feedback or request further changes. Once the author approves the edited version, we will publish it on our website.

Attribution and Plagiarism

All submissions must be original and not plagiarized. We will not tolerate the use of copyrighted material without permission or attribution. If you are quoting or citing from other sources, please provide proper attribution and include a link to the original source. We reserve the right to reject any submission that violates our plagiarism policy.

Accuracy and Fairness

We require all submissions to be accurate and fair in their reporting. All facts presented must be true and accurate to the best of the author's knowledge. We encourage community members to provide balanced and fair coverage of all news stories and avoid sensationalism, bias, or stereotyping in their reporting.
